CARBOTECH case: outstanding performance, unique
The 49mm diameter Luminor 1950 case is made by Carbotech. This composite material is mainly composed of carbon fiber and was first introduced into the field of watchmaking by Panerai. In addition to Carbotech’s outstanding technical performance, its uneven dark black tone will be different due to material cutting, making the finished product unique.
Carbotech’s structure can enhance the appearance and performance of the material. The case, crown bridge and lock lever are cast to ensure the watch’s water resistance to 10 bar (about 100 meters). In order to cast the Carbotech flakes required for each component, the carbon fiber flakes and the organic polymer PEEK (polyetherether 硐) need to be subjected to ultra-high pressure at a specific temperature to bond the Carbotech composite materials, making the materials more durable and reliable. The dial adopts a classic sandwich structure developed by Panerai. The luminous material is a blue Super-LumiNova® luminous coating, which penetrates the hour markers on the dial and the hollow of the corresponding position on the small seconds dial, making the reading clear and easy . Innovative materials further enhance the features of PANERAI LAB-IDTM watches-the dial is coated with carbon nanotube coating for the first time. The visual effect of this special coating has been specially developed to absorb light and minimize reflections, giving the dial a particularly deep black finish, which contrasts beautifully with Panerai’s classic blue hour markers and hands.
As the above features cannot be printed or embossed on the dial, all pattern numbers are directly formed on the crystal glass surface with double anti-reflection treatment.
New P.3001 / C movement, smooth operation without lubrication
The new PANERAI LAB-IDTM watch is equipped with a P.3001 / C manual movement and is equipped with a three-day power reserve. It also introduces a brand-new semi-hollow design for the first time.
